Organize 360™

Approach

Over the years in working with my clients, I have found that even though they call me to discuss one area — productivity, information, or environment — we usually end up discussing and addressing needs in all three areas. Thus, the birth of the Organize 360 Approach.

The Organize 360 Approach allows us to fully examine all aspects of productivity and organization, rather than working on one area in a vacuum.  All three areas are inter-connected and over the years, I noticed a cycle to the tasks and activity done on a regular basis.  This holistic approach enables us to fully understand the flow of information in and out of the workplace, the key activities to focus on and schedule, the tools available to utilize, and the best design of the work space.

Productivity

“…you cannot eat every tadpole and frog in the pond,
but you can eat the biggest and ugliest one,
and that will be enough, at least for the time being.”
~ Brian Tracy author of Eat That Frog!

The dictionary defines productive as: (a) yielding favorable, useful, or effective results; (b) marked by abundant achievement.

The areas I work with my clients on productivity include:

Calendar

  • Identifying and scheduling ‘key activities’
  • Aligning ‘key activities’ with goals and priorities
  • Analyzing scheduled meetings
  • Holding effective meetings
  • Determining tasks that can potentially be delegated
  • Delegating effectively
  • Reviewing current systems and processes
  • Modifying to reduce redundancy and waste

Information

“In the age of technology there is constant access to
vast amounts of information. The basket overflows;
people get overwhelmed; the eye of the storm is not so
much what goes on in the world, it is the confusion
of how to think, feel, digest, and react to what goes on.”
~ Criss Jami

Our society is inundated daily with information: paper, email, texts, TV, radio, and social media.  Studies say that in one year we are exposed to more information than individuals in the 15th century were exposed to in their lifetimes.

The areas I work with my clients on information include:

  • Processing and storing email and electronic documentsFrustrated middle aged businessman sitting at office desk
  • Identifying useful and useless information
  • Understanding the need to share information for collaboration
  • Defining collaboration tools (SharePoint, OneNote, Cloud drives)
  • Evaluating current technology used
  • Ensuring technology tool integration

“If you don’t have a winning culture inside,
it’s hard to compete in the very tough world outside.”

~ Douglas Conant

Whether your workspace is large or small, has a door or is out in the open, you might be struggling to keep your environment organized. An organized environment will help you function well in your space, find everything you need, and promote efficiency all day long.
